Recalls can be scary and can cause a lot of anxiety as you wonder if your car is unsafe. At Muller Honda of Highland Park, we’ve got your back because our service center’s recall department is fully equipped for all your recall needs. Since we are a Honda certified service center, that means we’re generally allowed to take care of any recall-related repairs at no charge to you, so bring your vehicle to us, and we’ll take care of you.
Recalls are issued when there’s a part that Honda wants to replace with a better one on your car. While they can be for minor parts, generally, they’re safety-related, and sometimes they’re even issued at the behest of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, who determines the need for a recall from consumer reports. Honda sends out a notification to all drivers of affected recalls, and then you take your recalled car into a Honda-certified service center, like ours, to have the problem repaired.
It’s true that some recalls are for minor things, but the fact that they could be for a major safety concern should always be in your mind. For example, a recall may come in for a small piece of plastic in your steering wheel, and while that doesn’t sound like a big problem, that piece of plastic may be a vital part of the airbag system. Since you definitely want your airbags to be functioning correctly, you would want that part fixed or replaced as soon as possible. We don’t take the seriousness of recalls for granted here, and we don’t want you to either.
An open recall is a recall that hasn’t been fixed. When a recall is issued, usually a notice will be issued by mail by Honda to let you know. However, addresses change, and sometimes mail doesn’t arrive, so you can also use our convenient online tool to look up your specific car and see any open recalls. We can also check at our service center for you as well.
As we said earlier, the chances are good that we can repair your vehicle at no charge. Honda takes responsibility for recalls and fixes them at their cost. We want all of our customers in Highland Park, Skokie, Evanston, Arlington Heights, and Chicago to be safe, so set up your recall appointment online!
